The Chillicothe Lady Hornets were able to use a consistently stronger floor game to overtake upset-minded Trenton in varsity high school volleyball on Monday night, winning 25-19, 25-13 in action broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.
Chillicothe junior Kennedie Kieffer was a force at the Hornet net, with 11 kills on the night, with her individual front-court battles with Trenton’s Karli Provorse (five kills, three digs) providing entertainment for the spectators at THS. Ellie Ross had a superb passing night for Chillicothe, with 25 assists, while libero Kylee Larson had eight digs and seven points of serve for the Hornets. Chillicothe’s only senior, Ruthie Vinson, was particularly strong from the service line, with five points off serve, adding six kills and four digs.
The Lady Hornets return to Midland Empire Conference play on Tuesday night, traveling to St. Joseph Lafayette.
Trenton, now 9-9 on the season, had six digs for Allena Allen and six assists for Melea Farmer. Teresa Yoder led the Lady Bulldogs with six kills, with Shawna Coplen adding five assists, and Saedee Jackson four digs.

Trenton lost the freshman match 25-19, 25-18 and junior varsity match 28-26, 25-21 to the visiting Lady Hornets. The Lady Bulldogs will host Lathrop tonight (Tuesday night), with action starting at 5 o’clock from the THS gymnasium.
