The Kansas City Chiefs, having signed veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap a week ago, will be working the former Seattle Seahawk into the team’s rotation at Missouri Western.  Citing a need for increased defensive line depth, the team signed Dunlap for an $8 million deal for the 2022 season.

Here is head coach Andy Reid:

“Orlando” refers to left tackle Orlando Brown, who reported to camp on Monday, preparing to play the upcoming season on Kansas City’s franchise tag after turning down a six-year, $140 million offer in mid-July.

There have been a handful of injuries at camp this week, but nothing seen as serious.  Rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore took a hard hit to the hip on Monday, and left practice early.  Quarterback Patrick Mahomes tweaked his foot/ankle area late in Monday’s workout, and received extra tape for the area, while tight end Jody Fortson was injured in his quadriceps muscle on Saturday, and missed a number of practices early this week, although Reid continues to indicate the injury is ‘minor’.  With training camp at an early stage, Reid indicated that several basic drills continue to be run:

Moore returned to practice on Wednesday morning, as the Chiefs moved indoors due to thunderstorm activity in the St. Joseph vicinity.  A light practice was scheduled for Thursday morning, before the team gets the day off on Friday.  Kansas City’s first preseason game is slated for Saturday, August 13th in Chicago against the Bears.
