The Kansas City Chiefs have made a significant addition to their quarterback depth chart by signing Carson Wentz to a one-year deal, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

Wentz, who will serve as a backup to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, joins the Chiefs with a wealth of NFL experience despite being just 31 years old. Last season, he had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams, appearing in two games with one start. During that time, he completed 70.8 percent of his passes for 163 yards, throwing two touchdowns and one interception.

This move marks Wentz’s fifth team in as many years, highlighting the quarterback’s journey through various organizations since being drafted as the second overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016. After spending five seasons with the Eagles, Wentz had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders before landing with the Rams last season.

With Mahomes firmly established as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback, Wentz’s role will primarily be as a backup. The Chiefs’ quarterback room also includes Chris Oladokun and Ian Book, providing additional depth behind Mahomes, who has remarkably missed only four starts since taking over as the full-time starter in 2018.

Running back J.K. Dobbins, who recently visited the Los Angeles Chargers, is now in Kansas City to meet with the Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Dobbins, 25, suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the first week of the 2023 regular season but has reportedly been cleared for all football activities. Despite his injury setbacks, Dobbins showed promise during his rookie season in 2020, rushing for 805 yards with nine touchdowns and averaging an impressive 6.0 yards per carry.

Selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, Dobbins missed the entire 2021 season due to a torn ACL suffered in a preseason game. He returned to play eight games in 2022, maintaining a strong average of 5.7 yards per carry.

With fellow former Ravens running back Gus Edwards already signing with the Chargers last month, Dobbins’ visit to Kansas City suggests that he is exploring his options for the upcoming season. Schefter noted that Dobbins is expected to sign with a new team soon, indicating that his visit with the Chiefs could lead to a potential deal.
