The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired fifth-year pass rusher Joshua Uche in a swap made with the New England Patriots. The trade is the second made by Kansas City within the past week, following the acquisition of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans last week.
Uche, despite having a pair of sacks in six games with New England this season, was a healthy scratch in Sunday’s 25-22 win over the rival Jets. There was developing speculation that he was on the trade block already, leading to the decision. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
The Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon 27-20, with five different defenders combining for five sacks. That unit, ranked second in the NFL this season, will now add Uche, a second round pick of New England in the 2020 draft out of the University of Michigan.
