Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won his first Super Bowl ring in 2020 when he led the Chiefs to a victory over the San Francisco 49ers. He added a second ring in February by leading Kansas City to a come-from-behind win against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs have celebrated their latest Super Bowl win with a ring ceremony, where they received their championship rings and took swipes at their emerging AFC rivals in Cincinnati.
The ring ceremony, held in Kansas City, was not open to reporters, but Mahomes and others shared photos of the rings. Made by Jostens, the rings feature 613 diamonds and 35 rubies, totaling 16.1 carats. The design carries several hidden meanings. The three Lombardi Trophies won by the Chiefs are featured prominently, each with a marquise diamond on top. The trophies are surrounded by 19 rubies and 38 diamonds, representing the 38 points the Chiefs scored in the Super Bowl and the 57th edition of the game. The Chiefs’ logo in the middle is made up of 16 rubies (representing the number of division titles) and 50 diamonds to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Arrowhead Stadium.
Other details include 16 baguette diamonds representing the 16 players who scored a touchdown in the regular season, 54 diamonds symbolizing the total number of points the Chiefs overcame in their two recent Super Bowl runs, and each player’s name engraved in gold alongside a row of 13 diamonds.
The palm side of the ring pays tribute to the Chiefs’ founder, Lamar Hunt, with his initials in a yellow gold football. The interior of the ring features the team’s motto, “EDGE,” in red, as well as the scores of the Chiefs’ playoff victories over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bengals, and Eagles.
The ring also has a removable top, allowing it to be worn as a pendant resembling Arrowhead Stadium.
Mahomes expressed his satisfaction with the rings, mentioning that he had been involved in the design process and was pleased with the final product. He emphasized the significance of the rings, stating that they would be cherished forever. With two Super Bowl rings to his name, Mahomes has twice as many as the Bengals’ current collection.
