The Kansas City Chiefs have placed kicker Harrison Butker on injured reserve due to a knee injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Butker, who was listed as a limited participant on Thursday’s injury report, requires arthroscopic surgery, sources confirmed. This move sidelines Butker for at least four games.
To fill the void, the Chiefs are signing kicker Spencer Shrader from the New York Jets’ practice squad, Schefter reported. Shrader recently made both field goal attempts in the Jets’ 31-6 loss to Arizona.
Butker is having another standout season, converting:
- 90% of field goal attempts (18/20)
- 95.5% of extra points (21/22)
This marks his eighth season with the Chiefs.
