The Trenton Bulldogs traveled to Cameron on Thursday night, meeting the host Cameron Dragons in a late-season, head-to-head boys tennis match-up.  The Dragons, on the strength of winning 4 of 6 singles matches, edged THS 5-4, improving their record to 5-6, while dropping the visiting Bulldogs to 4-7.

Cameron’s singles victories saw Gage Zeit down Jacob Davis 6-3, David Curtis take a 6-4 win over Nick Shields, Andrew Pratt beating Kade Ockenfels 6-1, and Robert Bremer taking an identical 6-1 final against Creed Houghton.  For the Bulldogs, Bryce Whitney took a 6-3 win against Jared Meister, while Wyatt Neal swept away Tyler Anderson, winning 6-love.

Trenton, needing to sweep doubles to claim the duel, came close, but fell one win short.  Davis and Shields, at #1 doubles, defeated Zeit and Pratt of Cameron 7-5, and Houghton and Neal, at #3 doubles, combined for a 6-1 win over Bremer and Anderson.  The Dragons clinched the team win with a 6-3 victory for Curtis and Meister over Whitney and Ockenfels at #2 doubles.

In JV play, Trenton’s Dylan May and C.J. Sibbit won a doubles match 6-love over Geoffrey Funchess and Jeffrey Anderson of Cameron.  In singles play, May beat Funchess and Sibbit downed Anderson, both by 6-love final scores.

In the midst of three events over three days, Trenton boy’s tennis will complete its regular season on Friday, playing at the Benton Tournament in St. Joseph, starting at 9 o’clock in the morning.
