The Trenton Lady Bulldogs won in thrilling fashion at Penney High School on Tuesday night, with the host Hornets of Hamilton taking THS to the limit, before the “Black and Gold” emerged with a victory by a final score of 25-8, 19-25, 26-24.
The victory, the third of the season for Trenton’s varsity, saw Libby Fewins provide stellar work from the back line, with seven aces, while adding three kills on the frontlines. Evy McCullough had three kills and three blocks, with Allena Allen adding three digs, and Ava Simpson eight assists.
The JV match went to Trenton 25-22, 25-17, with the Lady Bulldogs getting three aces from Lilly Berti, three aces and two kills from Makenzee Epperson, a pair of aces from Faith Baker, and one ace for Jamie Burkeybile.
The “C” match saw the Bulldogs and Hornets split a pair of sets, with Penney winning the opener 25-13, while Trenton responded in Set #2 with a 27-25 victory. Tierney Doolittle had three, Haley Shultz two, and Sarah Washburn one ace for Trenton.
The Lady Bulldogs will next be in action on Monday night, hosting Brookfield at 5 o’clock from the THS gymnasium.
