The Milan Wildcats and Trenton Bulldogs locked horns in a junior varsity/middle school football doubleheader on Monday night at C.F. Russell Stadium, with the Wildcat middle schoolers rolling to a 46-0 win over the young Bulldogs, while the JV game, despite numerous strong moments of play from Trenton on both sides of the ball, ended in an overtime scoreless tie.
Ian Elbert led the Trenton JV with 84 yards rushing, with Hunter McAtee adding 56 and Gavin Chambers 31. Defensively, the Bulldogs shined, with a pair of picks by McAtee. Charlie Riley had an interception, while Chambers led Trenton with six tackles. Tim Kempton had five tackles, including two for loss.
In the middle school game, Milan grabbed the advantage early with a pair of first quarter rushing touchdowns. The Wildcats added two more scores in the second and third quarters and one in the fourth, with all seven tallies scored by the ground. Milan went just 2 for 7 in converting on two-point conversions.
