The Trenton Bulldogs, with two first-quarter drives starting on the East Buchanan side of the field, had opportunity to gain early-game momentum in Friday night’s home opener at C.F. Russell Stadium. However, the Bulldog offense struggled to move the ball, gave possession back to the visitors, and by the second quarter, East Buchanan woke up from its offensive slumber, scoring four touchdowns in a 10 minute span, in a 42-7 victory, heard on Hot Country Z 101.7.
East Buchanan had three long touchdowns passes of 63, 55, and 42 yards, in addition to a 40 yard swing pass turned into a touchdown, in the victory. Trenton was able to avoid the shutout with a 10-yard touchdown run by Coleman Griffin with 3:10 remaining in the fourth quarter. While generally outplayed by East Buchanan, Trenton did not help its cause with four lost fumbles in the course of the contest.
The junior varsity game between the games, played on Monday night, went to East Buchanan by a score of 9-6. Gavin Chambers scored for Trenton on a fourth-quarter 1-yard run, tying the game at 6 before a go-ahead 32 yard field goal won the game for East Buchanan. Chambers had 56 yards rushing for Trenton, with Gaven Kelsall 35 receiving yards.
