Continuing their late-season trend of playing cleaner baseball, but struggling to put runs on the board, the Trenton Bulldogs bowed out of district play on Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 loss to the Plattsburg Tigers at Mid-Buchanan High School in Faucett.

Behind four shutout innings from right-hander Drew Rorebeck, the Bulldogs and Tigers went into the bottom of the fifth inning scoreless, but Plattsburg broke the ice with five tallies in the bottom of the fifth for the game-winning margin.

All five runs allowed by Rorebeck were unearned, with Jesse Farmer pitching a scoreless sixth, working around a walk, for Trenton.  Rorebeck had 10 strikeouts, throwing 101 pitches, 64 for strikes, while allowing only four hits.

Plattsburg’s starter, Brooks, threw six innings of three-hit shutout baseball at THS, striking out ten.  Simms pitched the top of the seventh, striking out two batters.

While Trenton committed only two errors in the game, Plattsburg was error-less in advancing.  Colton Colston, Jesse Farmer, and Sam Schilling had the only hits of the game for the Bulldogs.

In the first game played on Saturday, Lathrop broke open a 1-1 tie with three runs in the 4th inning, then added four more to put away East Buchanan in the sixth, as the Mules won the all-KCI matchup 8-1.
