Bulldogs move to 9-1 with shutout victory at Cameron

The Trenton Bulldogs beat the Cameron Dragons in high school tennis action on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0, with Trenton moving to 9-1 on the season heading into Friday’s Benton Tournament in St. Joseph.  The loss drops Cameron’s dual record to 1-11 this spring.

For Trenton, two singles players won by 8-love fashion, with Nick Shields (#1 over David Beasley) and Kade Ockenfels (#2 over Tyler Anderson) winning their matches by that score.  Three Trenton players won singles matches by 8-1 scores, with Gabe Swann beating Nicholas Helmich (#3), Wyatt Neal taking down Witaliy Tsytsyk (#5) and Jeremy Elliott taking a win over Geoffery Funchess (#6).  In the #4 singles match, Trenton’s Creed Houghton defeated Cameron’s Levi Chastain 8-2.

In doubles play, the Trenton #2 team of Ockenfels and Houghton beat Anderson and Chastain 8-3, with Shields and Swann, at #1 doubles, beating Beasley and Helmich 8-1, while at #3 doubles, Neal and Elliott shutout Tsytsyk and Funchess 8-love.

The Bulldogs and Dragons played four doubles JV matches against one another, with Trenton winning all four (against the same Cameron duo).  Isaac Harris and Weston Otto beat Avery Dickerson and Jack Dao 4-1, with Riley Raymo and Reece Miller beating Dickerson and Dao 4-2, Cole Soptic and Elijah Merrin winning 4-1, and Sabastian Brown and Kasen Christy winning 4-3.
