Tennis

The Trenton Bulldogs won a head-to-head tennis duel with the Kirksville Tigers on Monday afternoon, taking a 6-3 victory at KHS, improving to 10-0 this spring, while dropping the Tigers record to 8-5.

Trenton showed more dominance in comparison to a 5-4 mid-April victory at THS in the rematch, particularly in singles, with the Bulldogs rolling up four convincing victories to take a stranglehold on the match.  At #2 singles, Gabe Swann defeated Charles Fraser 8-3, with Creed Houghton, at #3 singles, claiming a 8-2 decision over Noah Walker.  At #4 singles, Jeremy Elliott routed Jacob Doman 8-1, with Isaac Harris, at #5 singles, doubling up Alec Hazen 8-4.

The singles wins for Kirksville were at the #1 level, with Bennett Hoshaw downing Nick Shields 8-1, and at #6 singles, with Bryce Robison beating Weston Otto 8-5.

The only doubles win for Kirksville came at #1 doubles, with Hoshaw and Fraser taking a hard-fought 8-6 win over Shields and Houghton.  Trenton clinched the match with a pair of doubles wins, as Swann and Elliott (#2) beat Walker and Robison 8-1, while Harris and Otto (#3) were a 9-7 winner over Doman and Hazen.

Kirksville won all three JV doubles matches played against Trenton on Monday afternoon.

Trenton has one more dual and a tournament left before district play, with the Bulldogs very much in play for a #1 seed for the postseason.
