The Trenton Bulldog boys tennis team traveled to Kirksville on Thursday to play in the 3-team Kirksville Tournament, joined by the host Tigers and Chillicothe Hornets.
Schools had both singles and doubles entries, with nine separate tournaments played, three in doubles and six in singles competitions.
Trenton’s #1 doubles team of Trent Villacampa and Bradyn Sager took their tournament, beating Gavin Pike and Turner Peterson of Kirksville 8-0 and Chace Corbin and Joshua Adams of Chillicothe 8-2.
In the #2 doubles tournament, Trenton’s Jonin Villacampa and Maverick Sole went 1-1, with an 8-0 sweep of Timothy Cason and Max Walker of Kirksville followed by an 8-5 setback to Chillicothe’s Gabriel Peterson and Emmett Young.
In the #3 doubles tournament, Kirksville’s Wesley Martin and Adam Hendler downed Trenton’s Tucker Otto and Jacob Horton 8-3. Otto and Horton finished play 0-2, with an 8-5 defeat to Jadon Collins and Jackson Reeter of Chillicothe.
In singles play, Trenton took home three championships, with Bradyn Sager victorious in the #2 tournament, while Maverick Sole won in #3 singles, and Maverick Sole finishing on top of the #4 singles tournament.
