Bulldog grapplers win five of nine matches in season opening match with Kirksville

The Trenton Bulldogs lost to Kirksville 39-24 and defeated East Buchanan 42-24 as part of a boys and girls wrestling triangular on Tuesday night at Trenton High School. 

Trenton had good success against Kirksville, winning five of the nine matches that were contested on the mat.  Kirksville picked up forfeit victories at 106 pounds, heavyweight, and 175 pounds.  Trenton’s only forfeit victory, at 132 pounds, gave a victory to Christian Glaspie.  There was a double forfeit at 113 pounds. 

Results from the Kirksville-Trenton duel were: 

120 pounds – Jacob White (Trenton) with 11-0 major decision over Jaden Crisp (Kirksville) 

126 pounds – Ethan Hale (Kirksville) by pin at 4:42 over Cooper Houser (Trenton) 

138 pounds – Justin Schutter (Kirksville) by 12-6 decision over Mason Rongey (Trenton) 

144 pounds – Walter Olmstead (Trenton) by pin at 1:26 over Micah Gerdes (Kirksville) 

150 pounds – Henry Lasley (Trenton) by pin at 3:58 over Jacob Lunsford (Kirksville) 

157 pounds – Austyn Hunter (Kirksville) by pin at 2:48 over Spencer Stieh (Trenton) 

165 pounds – Luke Cahalan (Kirksville) by pin at 1:03 over Jaysar Simpson (Trenton) 

190 pounds – Logan Wilson (Trenton) by pin at 1:47 over Brantley Kottwitz (Trenton) 

215 pounds – Barrett Clark (Trenton) by pin at 1:56 over Brody Neff (Kirksville) 

 

Trenton’s 42-24 win over East Buchanan saw three double forfeits (heavyweight, 106, and 113 pounds), with a forfeit win for Trenton’s Maxx Baker at 126 pounds.  Landon DeLong of East Buchanan, at 175 pounds, won by forfeit.

120 pounds – Jacob White (Trenton) by pin at 1:31 over Brody McCartney (East Buchanan) 

132 pounds – Cooper Houser (Trenton) by pin at 2:32 over Hudson Jones (East Buchanan) 

138 pounds – Mason Rongey (Trenton) by pin at 0:36 over Will Fisher (East Buchanan) 

144 pounds – Walter Olmstead (Trenton) by pin at 1:51 over Braxton Hensley (East Buchanan) 

150 pounds – Reece Dixon (East Buchanan) by pin at 5:40 over Henry Lasley (Trenton) 

157 pounds – Spencer Steih (Trenton) by pin at 1:46 over Kyle Parmely (East Buchanan) 

165 pounds – Blane Veatch (East Buchanan) by pin at 2:19 over Jaysar Simpson (Trenton) 

190 pounds – Logan Wilson (Trenton) by pin at 1:11 over Finley Fisher (East Buchanan) 

215 pounds – Corbin Allen (East Buchanan) by pin at 4:50 over Barrett Clark (Trenton) 

 

In girls wrestling, Kirksville beat Trenton 45-6 with Trenton doubling up East Buchanan 12-6.  In the duel against Kirksville, Trenton’s Avery Clark pinned the Lady Tigers Morgan Crawford at 5:31 into their 155 pound battle.  Paityn Ferrell of Kirksville, at 105 pounds, pinned Trenton’s Kendall Foust at the 4:32 mark. At 125 pounds, Kaitlyn Summers of Kirksvile took a 3-1 decision over Trinety Fults of Trenton.  The remainder of the weight classes were either double forfeits or forfeit wins and points for Kirksville. 

In the Trenton battle with East Buchanan, Avery Clark, wrestling at 145 pounds, pinned Seriniti Parton at 1:13.  At 110 pounds, Brooklyn Utz of East Buchanan defeated Kendall Foust of Trenton by fall.   Trinety Fults of Trenton, wrestling at 125 pounds, took 37 seconds to pin Miley Brushwood of East Buchanan.  The rest of the results were double forfeits.
