Bulldog boys wrestlers go 2-1 in Thursday night home battles

The Trenton High School boys wrestling team had two wins and one loss in a quad last night inside the THS gymnasium.  The victories were over Gallatin and Penney (Hamilton).  The setback came against GRC rival South Harrison.  South Harrison went 3-0 on the evening, with head-to-head wins over Penney and Gallatin.

The host Bulldogs opened the night with a 54-22 win over Gallatin that saw the visiting Bulldogs give up eight forfeits.  In mat competition, Trenton’s Logan Wilson won by pin at 175 pounds.  THS winners by forfeit were Maxx Baker at 120 pounds, Cooper Houser at 126, Mason Rongey at 138, Brayden Hughs at 144 pounds, Henry Lasley at 150, Aiden Kempton at 190, Barrett Clark at 215, and Gavin Cagle at heavyweight.

Gallatin winners against Trenton were Eli Sperry by 17-0 technical fall at 113, Wyatt Eaton by 18-3 technical fall at 132, Laramie Fennimore by pin at 157, and Brayden Baker by forfeit at 165 pounds.

Trenton’s loss to South Harrison came in the second head-to-head match of the night, with the Bethany boys claiming a 40-36 triumph.  South Harrison opened the dual with pins at 113 and 120 pounds by Thales Marshall and Dawson Pelletier.  Trenton’s Cooper Houser won by forfeit at 126 pounds.  Brendon Hoover of South Harrison was victorious by 14-4 major decision at 132 pounds.  Trenton rebounded with back-to-back pins from Mason Rongey at 138 pounds and Brayden Hughs at 144.

South Harrison’s Kason King won by 7-4 decision at 150 pounds.  Trenton’s Spencer Steih won by pin at 157.  South Harrison’s Ethan Smith received a forfeit win at 165.  Logan Wilson of Trenton won by pin at 175, with Trenton claiming a 30-25 lead at that point.  South Harrison’s match clinching rally started with back-to-back pins, as Mayson Edwards was victorious at 190 and Crae Coffey took a victory at 215 pounds, followed by a 4-1 decision by Jarrett Eivins at heavyweight, as SHHS went up 40-30.  Trenton’s Jacob White received a forfeit at 106 pounds to make the final score 40-36 for South Harrison: 

In Trenton’s final dual of the night, the Bulldogs beat the Penney Hornets 51-30.    THS winners were Cooper Houser by 6-3 decision at 126 pounds, Mason Rongey by pin at 138, Spencer Steih by pin at 157 pounds, and Logan Wilson by pin at 175 pounds.  Winners by forfeit were Brayden Hughs at 144, Aiden Kempton at 190, Barrett Clark at 215, Jacob White at 106 pounds, and Trakor Hignutt at 113 pounds.

Penney winners included Alex Martin at 120, Johnathan Morrison at 132 pounds, Tyler Thompson at 150, and Dawson Miller at heavyweight, all by pin.  Talan Ash won by forfeit at 165 pounds.  Miller’s victory was the 100th of his career:

The Trenton boys will be in the “Tom Hayes” Tournament at Lexington on Saturday.  The Lady Bulldogs have Saturday off, continuing preparations for the Battle on the Katy Trail Tournament in Sedalia on the weekend of December 15th and 16th.
