Brookfield wins home wrestling tournament, St. Pius takes MEC title

The Brookfield Bulldogs had four champions in the “A” Division of the boys wrestling tournament on Saturday at Brookfield High School.  Xavier Sada at 113 pounds, Peyton Parn at 132, Colton Parn at 150, and Devan Parn at 190 all placed first in the Gary Haag Invitational.

Marceline had one champion in the “A” Division, with Andrew Griffin taking the 138 pound weight class.  

Using “A” and “B” divisions affected teams scores.  Brookfield was first with 89 points, followed by Centralia’s 79.  Blair Oaks was third with 70, with Marceline fourth at 66.  Thirteen schools were entered.

Girls results were not available.

In the Midland Empire Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday, the St. Pius X Warriors rolled up 253 1/2 points to win the team title.  Savannah was second with 182, with third place Cameron at 168, Benton 121 1/2, fifth-place Chillicothe 119, Maryville 86, and St. Joseph Lafayette 70 1/2 points.

Chillicothe’s champions were Cayden Larson at 175 pounds and Bo Smith at heavyweight.  

Cameron won the MEC girls wrestling tournament with 157 points.  Benton was second with 93,  Chillicothe third with 64, followed by St. Joseph Lafayette (38), Savannah with 18, and Maryville with 14 points.

Chillicothe’s girls champions were Yoo Lee at 125 pounds and Tori Stoner at 140.
