The Brookfield Bulldogs traveled to Trenton on Friday night, while the Milan Wildcats remained home to take on South Shelby, as the 2020 high school football season opened across the region.
Brookfield dominated a turnover-prone Trenton side in action broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, rolling to a 50-0 win. The Bulldogs running game, led by senior fullback Trace Alexander, controlled the action for coach Scott Stevens, returning to his alma mater, Trenton High School, on the visitors sideline at C.F. Russell Stadium.
Alexander and senior quarterback Andrew Liebhart combined for all seven rushing touchdowns for BHS, giving the Bulldogs momentum into the Bell Game at Marceline this week.
It was a disappointing season debut for Trenton, as the home team struggled all night to get a consistent rushing attack going to combat Brookfield’s dominance. Trenton will travel to East Buchanan this Friday night, with coverage on Hot Country Z 101.7 starting at 5:30.
The first time Milan touched the football on Friday night, senior halfback Dominic Dabney returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Wildcats threw a 35-0 shutout at South Shelby in action broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3. Here’s coach John Dabney:
The defense, led by new Wildcat coordinator Mark Cole, was stout all night at the PIT:
Due to Boone County’s restrictions on crowd size in the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, Harrisburg had to move its home game this week with Milan up to Cal Hubbard Field. KTTN FM 92.3 will have coverage of the game between the Bulldogs and Wildcats on September 4th at 7 o’clock.
