The Trenton Bulldogs hosted the Brookfield Bulldogs in a head-to-head wrestling dual on Tuesday night (January 18th) in the THS gymnasium, with the visitors from Brookfield escaping with a 36-35 win over Trenton in boys competition. The girls dual went to Brookfield, 35-6.
The boys matchup was very exciting, with only two matches decided by forfeit, with points going to Trenton’s Gavin Cagle at heavyweight, and Brookfield’s Peyton Parn at 113 pounds.
Brookfield’s victories came from Klayton Doss by pin at 106 pounds, Xaiver Sada by pin at 120, Gambal Staddie by pin at 126, Colton Parn by 7-3 decision at 145, Jaden Abongo by pin at 170, and Trent Polley by 5-3 decision at 195.
Trenton’s wins from from Brayden Hughs via 11-3 major decision at 132, Hunter McAtee with a 4-3 decision at 138, Coleman Griffin by pin at 152, Kaden Owen with a 13-5 major decision at 160, Nate Burkeybile with a pin at 182, and Caleb Johnson, with a 15 second pin at 220 pounds.
There were a handful of JV matches between the teams, with victories for Brookfield’s Aiden Rausch, Bridger Grimshaw, and Cooper Clarkson, with Trenton wins for Milo Simpson, Michael Nyakoojo, Logan Wilson, and Tim Kempton.
Trenton’s only points in the girls match came from Jacey Hudson by forfeit at 235 pounds. Brookfield’s points came from Jenna Keller, by forfeit at 110 pounds; Addison Pope by pin at 120 pounds; Diana Linscott by forfeit at 125; Mya Sackrey with a forfeit at 130; Kaecen Brown with a forfeit at 135; Riley Howell by forfeit at 159, Oscarina Jackson with a forfeit at 174; while Saasha Weaver claimed a 10-5 decision at 141 pounds.
