Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick will miss the entire 2023 season due to a left Achilles injury, which he sustained during Monday’s practice. This comes after he missed the entire 2022 season due to a torn right ACL. Head coach Sean Payton confirmed the injury.
The incident occurred during a seven-on-seven drill, and reports indicate that it was a non-contact injury to his left leg. Patrick showed visible distress, throwing his helmet and screaming before being carted off the field. He later entered the facility with crutches, as reported by NFL Media.
Patrick’s fears of an Achilles tear were confirmed, adding to the setback he experienced with the previous ACL tear in his right knee in August 2022. Notably, Patrick had been a productive player for the Broncos, serving as their No. 3 receiver in 2020 and 2021, with 104 catches for 1,476 yards and 11 touchdowns in 31 games.
Denver does have viable receiver options with Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton as their top two wideouts, and Marvin Mims and Marquez Callaway in the mix. However, Patrick’s absence will still be felt, given his contributions to the team’s offense.
In related news, the Broncos waived wide receiver K.J. Hamler on Monday after he was diagnosed with mild heart irritation.
