St. Louis Cardinals reliever John Brebbia has undergone Tommy John Surgery, leaving him out for the entire 2020 season, and likely, for most of the 2021 season. The procedure was verified mid-week by President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak, in an interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Brebbia has been with the Cardinals since being acquired in the Rule 5 Draft in 2015. Over the past three seasons, the durable thrower has logged an ERA of 3.14 over 175 innings, including 72 2/3 in 2019.
Recovery from Tommy John Surgery is generally considered to take between 12 and 15 months.
