Coming into Monday night’s home opener against Albany with an 0-5 record, the Trenton Lady Bulldogs confidence had to be shaken early, with the Lady Warriors putting five runs on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, leading 5-0 in a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.

Roaring back with one of the biggest innings in program history, the Lady Bulldogs sent 18 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring 14 runs on the strength of 13 hits, blitzing Albany the cruising from that point to a 17-6, five inning victory.

Recovering from her difficult first inning, sophomore starter Emma Roberts went five inning, striking out five batters and walking four in grabbing the victory.

Gracyn Rongey continues to be the sparkplug at the top of the THS order, connecting on a first-pitch double into left-center to ignite Trenton’s first inning surge.  Rongey was 3 for 4 on the night, with a double, a triple, single, stolen base, three runs scored, and a pair of RBI’s.

Chandler Lynch, Mirena King, Madi Moore, Eliana Cowling, and Teya Cooksey all had multi-hit games for Trenton, now 1-5 on the season.  Albany, dropping to 0-4, had a two-hit game from Montana Moffat, with Hailey Sterkis adding two hits and a run scored.  Cory Worrell scored twice for the Lady Warriors.

Trenton won the JV contest 7-3, as Jena Hunter got the victory with four innings and four strikeouts from the circle.  Hunter, with the bat, was 2 for 2, Morgan Foster was 2 for 2, Mikensy Golden 1 for 1, and Tymber Cooksey 1 for 2 with a triple for THS.

Trenton’s games at Putnam County, scheduled for Tuesday night, were postponed due to wet field conditions in Unionville, with that varsity/JV doubleheader moved to Wednesday night at 5:30.
