Redshirt sophomore quarterback Connor Bazelak and redshirt junior defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat have been named as preseason college football watch lists, with Bazelak under consideration for the Davey O’Brien Award, and Jeffcoat for the Bednarik Award.
Bazelak is one of six sophomores nationwide, and one of three SEC quarterbacks recognized. As a freshman, he three for over 200 years in eight of 10 appearances, earning him Co-SEC Freshman of the Year honors in addition to a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team. The Davey O’Brien Award is given out annually to the player deemed the “best quarterback in the country”.
Jeffcoat finished fourth in the SEC in 2020 with six sacks, adding seven quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. He is one of 90 players named to the Bednarik Watch List, given to the top defensive player in the country.
Missouri opens the season at Faurot Field in Columbia on Saturday, September 2nd. The Southeastern Conference opener for MU will be at Kentucky on Saturday, September 9th.
