The Oakland A’s have taken steps to trademark potential new names for the Major League Baseball organization as they prepare for their move to Southern Nevada. According to federal documents, the team has filed trademark applications for three possible names: Las Vegas A’s, Las Vegas Athletics, and Vegas Athletics.

These trademark applications were filed by Athletics Investment Group LLC, which operates as the Oakland A’s. The team intends to relocate to Las Vegas in time for the 2028 MLB season and play in a new ballpark situated on the Strip.

However, it’s important to note that the trademark applications have not yet been approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The proposed $1.5 billion ballpark is set to be constructed on the current site of the Tropicana Las Vegas, which recently ceased operations on April 2. Plans for the resort complex’s demolition are expected to proceed later this year.
