LAWSON, Mo. (Dave Counsell) The Trenton High School boys wrestling team had one champion and two second-place finishers in the Lawson Tournament on Saturday.
Jacob White captured the 120 pound weight class with a 5-0 record. White won by decision in the opening round and followed that up with three pins and a injury default victory.
Cooper Houser was second at 126 pounds with a 4-1 record, with Barrett Clark finishing second with a 4-1 mark at 215 pounds.
Finishing third for THS were Mason Rongey at 138 pounds (4-1 record) and Logan Wilson and 190 pounds (2-2 record).
Gabe Makovec and Spencer Steih each was 3-2 to finish fifth at 132 and 157 pounds.
Brookfield had three champions in the boys tournament — Ryder Cochenour at 113, Jace Keller at 138, and Devan Parn at 190 pounds.
Gallatin had two champions —- Eli Sperry at 132 and Wyatt Eaton at 150 pounds.
Buena Vista High School of Omaha, Nebraska won the boys team title with 188 points. Lawson edged Brookfield for second place. Lawson scored 161 1/2 points. Brookfield had 160. Lafayette County (Higginsville) was fourth with 126 1/2 point. Trenton fifth with 114 points, East Buchanan sixth with 79, and Gallatin seventh with 64. Plattsburg followed with 51 1/2, with Stanberry and East Atchison both with 37 1/2 points.
Trenton senior Avery Clark was first in the girls division of the Lawson Tournament with a 5-0 record at 145 pounds. She won by technical fall in the opening round and then captured her next four matches by pin.
Additional details about the Lawson girls wrestling tournament were not available. Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs boasted three champions — Karydon Jones, Abby Parker, and Miah Parker.
