The Grundy R-V Lady Panthers run to the 2019-2020 girls basketball championship in the HDC Conference has been recognized with two unanimous selections to the HDC All-Conference first team, with one selection to both the second team and honorable mention squad.

Five of the six players named to the HDC first team were named unanimously, led by Grundy R-V’s tandem of Jandie Peterson and Aubrey Gann, Tri-County’s Bailee Hoover, North Harrison’s Emma Craig, and Tori Meinecke of Mercer.  Aubrey Wilson of Mercer, a senior guard who had her season end prematurely with torn knee ligaments in January, rounded out the first team.

Grundy’s Anna Milazzo was named to the HDC second team, along with Tri-County’s Destiny Gutshall, Gilman City’s Jolee Ward, Winston’s Abby Rhoades, Mercer’s Rainey Michael, and North Harrison’s Camden Castleberry.

Grundy’s Bri Carpio and East Harrison’s Hope Ellsworth earned honorable mention nods, with Grundy R-V Head Coach Ty Stillwell winning Coach of the Year honors.

In postseason play, Grundy R-V reached the district semifinal round before falling to Meadville on the Lady Eagles home floor.  Mercer reached a district final before falling to Pattonsburg at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.

Out of six boys named All-HDC first team, three were by unanimous vote, in Mercer’s Cam Hartley, Winston’s Jakub Hisel, and North Harrison’s Brett Emig.  That trio is joined by Grundy R-V junior guard Caden Gann, East Harrison junior Adam Rinehart, and North Harrison senior Steven Willhite.

Second-team All-Conference status goes to Winston’s Jacob Uthe, Mercer’s duo of Jon Johnson and Kaden Graham, Grundy R-V’s Cooper Lewis, Mark Willis of East Harrison, and Kaden Koch of North Harrison.

Isaiah Morgana of Mercer, Derick Curtis of Tri-County, and Austin Vaughn of East Harrison were honorable mention, with North Harrison Shamrocks Coach Mike Schmidli named HDC Coach of the Year.
