The HDC Conference has announced first-team, second-team, and all-defensive team honors for the 2021-2022 basketball season. Officially, the season ended for the conference with the Saturday night defeat of Mercer at the hands of Platte Valley in the Class 1 quarterfinal round in St. Joseph.
Of six girls named HDC first-teamers, four were named by unanimous fashion, with Mercer senior Tori Meinecke and junior Rainey Michael joined by the Tri-County senior tandem of Destiny Gutshall and Carly Turner. The remaining two first-team spots were grabbed by Gilman City sophomore Ava Langitt and Winston senior Jordyn Inman.
The girls coach of the year honor went to Mercer’s Dan Owens.
All six boys named to the HDC first team were unanimous picks, in the Winston senior duo of Brian Lewis and Jacob Uthe, Grundy R-V sophomore Corbin Axtell, East Harrison senior Mark Willis, Mercer sophomore Tyler Meinecke, and Gilman City junior Brody Langfitt.
The boys HDC Coach of the Year is Winston High School’s Eric Lewis.
