In Monday night softball action from Albany, the host Lady Warriors celebrated Senior Night with a 3-1 victory over the Trenton Lady Bulldogs, in action broadcast on KGOZ FM 101.7.Â
With senior pitcher Avery Clark relegated to designated player status due to a shoulder injury, right-hander Kimberly Clark got the ball in the circle for Trenton and pitched well, as all three Albany runs, scored in the third inning, were unearned. However, Clark was outdueled by the tough Albany righty in Makenna Moffat, who shut down the Lady Bulldogs in a five-hit effort.
Trenton opened the scoring with a triple up the left-center field alley by Avery Clark in the top of the first inning, scoring Jena Hunter, who had reached via a one-out single. For the Lady Bulldogs, Clark had a two-hit night, with Mirena King adding a pair of hits. The only other hit for Trenton was Hunter in the first inning. Moffat walked only one batter and struck out seven, as Albany improves to 20-4 on the season.
Trenton, in falling to 15-10, had two errors in the game, with a two-out, no out infield error in the third inning extending Albany’s opportunity. After Keylee Siddens reached base via the misplay, Kennedie Epperly singled, followed by a game-tying RBI single by Alexis Seiter, and a two-run double off the bat of catcher Jayden Hillyard.
