Set to be the top returning pitcher on the Missouri softball team, junior Paige Lowary, has announced, via Twitter, her decision to transfer to the University of Oklahoma.
The reasons for the departure are not completely known, although the MU program has been under fire this spring as the subject of a Title IX investigation, started after some Tiger players complained to then-Athletic Director Mack Rhoades about the way they were treated by Head Coach Ehren Earleywine.
On her Twitter post from Friday, Lowary stated, “Well, it’s official! I will be finishing my softball career and education at the University of Oklahoma!! I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I can’t wait to get to Norman and start my journey as a Sooner!”
Oklahoma is the defending national champion.
In her sophomore season at Missouri, Lowary, a native of Dallas Center, Iowa, established herself as the ace of the Tigers staff, winning 25 games with an ERA of 3.25.
