8 first inning runs send Chillicothe to road rout of Ozark, 17-4

The Chillicothe Mudcats scored eight runs in the top of the first inning, and scored at least one run in the first seven frames, rolling to a 17-4 victory on Friday night against the Ozark Generals.

In the MINK League game played at Meador Park in Springfield, Mudcat catcher Andrew Tannous had 5 RBI’s, three hits, and two runs scored, designated hitter Ryan McPhail contributed three hits, three runs, and three RBI’s, center fielder Preson Pavlica was 4 for 5 with two runs scored, leadoff hitter Ryan Kayhill 3 for 6 with three runs scored, and third baseman Nick Banman had three hits, two RBI’s, and a run scored.

The win pulls second-place Chillicothe to within 1/2 game of idle St. Joseph in the MINK League North, while Ozark suffers its first league loss, falling to 4-1 in MINK play.  

Elsewhere on Friday night, Branson won at Nevada 15-9,. while Clarinda claimed a 5-1 win at Sedalia.

The Mudcats hope that their bats have more runs in them, continuing their road trip at Nevada on Saturday night.  It is a 7 PM first pitch between the Mudcats and Griffons from Lyons Stadium.  

Other Saturday contests include a doubleheader for Branson and Ozark, playing in Springfield at 6 PM, Clarinda hosting the Carroll Merchants at 7, and Sedalia at Joplin at 7 o’clock.
