The Chillicothe Lady Hornets picked up 21 points from Katelyn Parkey, 12 from Hannah Jones, and 10 points from Karson Keithley in grabbing a dominant 72-20 win over Bishop LeBlond on Monday night, in the quarterfinals of the Cameron Invitational Tournament. The win improves the senior-laden Lady Hornets to 14-1, and moves Darren Smith’s team into a Wednesday night (7:00 semifinal) with the Higginsville Lady Huskers, a 34-23 quarterfinal winner over Cameron on Monday night.
On the bottom half of the Cameron bracket, the #2 seed Savannah Lady Savages rolled to a 58-32 win over Excelsior Springs, while the Lawson Lady Cardinals beat Maryville, 38-28. Savannah and Lawson will play at 8:30 on Wednesday night.
Boys quarterfinals are tonight (Tuesday night) from Cameron High School, with the #4 seed Chillicothe boys taking on Excelsior Springs at 4 o’clock, the top-seeded Maryville Spoofhounds battling Smithville at 5:30, the Higginsville Huskers against the LeBlond Golden Eagles at 7 o’clock, and the Lawson Cardinals against the Cameron Dragons at 8:30.
