Heading into their annual grudge match with county rival Brookfield in the “Bell Game”, the Marceline Tigers have landed in the #2 position in this week’s Missouri Sportswriters and Broadcasters high school football poll, behind Lewis and Clark rival Westran, while two of the stalwarts in the KCI Conference are both ranked in the top five in Class 1, heading into a collision in Gower on Friday night, as #3 ranked Penney plays at #4 ranked East Buchanan.
Meanwhile, in Class 2, Trenton’s first two opponents of the 2018 season continue to unbeaten and highly ranked, with Lathrop tied with KCI rival Lawson at #5, while Lexington checks in at #7, Clark County at #8, and the Huskers from Lafayette County of Higginsville, landing at #10.
