The Milan Middle School and junior varsity football teams traveled to C.F. Russell Stadium in Trenton on Monday night, for a pair of games with the host Bulldogs.
In the JV contest, Trenton played fairly well, but lacked red zone punch to put points on the board, as the Bulldogs and Milan Wildcats ended, after overtime, in a scoreless tie. Ian Elbert led Trenton with 84 yards rushing, with Hunter McAtee adding 56, and Gavin Chambers 31 yards on the ground. Defensively, Chambers had six tackles to pace THS, with one of those a tackle for loss. McAtee had two interceptions for an opportunistic Bulldog defense, with Tim Kempton grabbing two tackles for loss and a sack, Ian Elbert four tackles, and Charlie Riley two tackles and an interception.
The game between the middle school teams was dominated by Milan, with the Wildcats shutting out the Bulldogs, 46-0. The Wildcats had a pair of touchdown runs in the first quarter, splitting a pair of 2 point conversions after scampers of 32 and 5 yards. The second quarter brought 14 more Milan points, on scoring runs of 39 and 11 yards.
In the third quarter, Milan extended the 28-0 halftime lead to 40-0, with a 3 and 7 yard touchdown run. In the final quarter, the ‘Cats, on a one yard touchdown plunge, ended the scoring.
