The Lawson Lady Cardinals downed the Trenton Lady Bulldogs in Class 2, District 15 semifinal volleyball action on Thursday night, winning 25-7, 25-14, 25-12 at Lathrop High School.
Saige Gott and Nautica Dowling paced the Trenton offense with eight kills each, while Jacole Simpson had 17 digs, Emma Raedelli 18 assists, and Dowling five aces.
Trenton head coach Brad Ewald credited Lawson with their strong play, saying the Lady Cards “did a really nice job hitting around the attempted blocks of the Bulldog defense”, while admitting that Trenton was “just outmatched in the end”.
Lawson advanced to the Class 2, District 15 match with Carrollton, falling on Monday night to the MRVC champion Lady Trojans in a three sets to none sweep.
Trenton’s last victory of the season came on Tuesday night, with a 13-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 victory over South Harrison Lady Bulldogs in the district quarterfinal round. Gott had 11 kills, Raedelli 21 assists, Simpson 20 digs, and Dowling five aces for THS.
