Two Green City seniors, Coach Peavler, earn postseason Tri-County honors

The Tri-County Conference has named first-team, second-team, and coach of the year honors for the softball and baseball seasons.

The Lady Gophers of Green City High School placed two players on the softball first team, in seniors Nicolette Embree and Jessica Phillips.  The conference’s MVP was LaPlata senior Kelsi Hemmerling.  Others on the first team are Bevier senior Caiti Bradley, LaPlata junior Alexis Wood, Bucklin/Macon County junior Kellen Robertson, Atlanta sophomore Aleassa Hruska, Brashear freshman Averi Acton, LaPlata junior Summer Wood, and Novinger freshman Lexi Baird.

Green City’s Jennifer Peavler is the Tri-County Conference softball coach of the year.

Softball second-team selections are Green City’s Kelsey Howard and Abi Morris, Atlanta’s Molly Waddle, Meadville’s Shelby Holcer, Bevier’s Mary Bradley, LaPlata’s Maddy Craig and Brooklyn Weber, Linn County’s Brooklyn Murrell, Bucklin/Macon County’s Hailey Akers, and Brashear’s Alexa Higgins.

In baseball, the Tri-County named co-MVP’s, in La Plata junior Trevor Pipes and Green City junior Ryan Peavler.  

Baseball first teamers, in addition to Pipes and Peavler, are Bucklin/Macon County’s River Wright, LaPlata’s Tucker Noah and Ryan Jackson, Bevier’s Brock Jones and Garret Bailey, Brashear’s Jacob Bleything, and Green City’s Camden Williams and Devin Fields.

All-Conference second-team baseballers are Brashear’s Colt Acton, Green City’s Alex Barto and Nathan Chase, Atlanta’s Tyler Johnston, Bucklin/Macon County’s Bryce Passig, Bevier’s Cody Shaver and Izek Ferguson, LaPlata’s Gunnar McHenry, Linn County’s Chadley Waltz, and Novinger’s Kail Smith.

Green City High School’s Dale Whitacre is the Tri-County Conference’s baseball coach of the year for 2016.
