The Trenton High School doubles tennis team of Claire Utley and Lauren Dolan went 0-2 on Friday, bowing out of the Class 1 state tennis tournament in Springfield. Utley and Dolan played Alisha Castaner and Jean Li of state champion Pembroke Hill in the first round, and took a 6-love, 6-1 defeat.
Coming back in the first round of doubles consolation, the Trenton duo was knocked out of the tournament by Anna Williams and Kayton Harris of Kennett High School, 6-love, 6-love.
The Chillicothe High School doubles team of Hannah Cypert and Hunter Keithley had the same 0-2 fate as their Trenton rivals, with Cypert and Keithley losing in the first round to Kendra Maples and Emmy Griesbaum of Palmyra 6-1, 6-2. In the first round of consolation play, Cypert and Keithley lost to Erin Jarvis and Cecilia Bailey of Springfield Catholic 6-2, 6-love.
