Trenton High School senior Bradyn Sager went 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon, cruising to the championship in the #1 singles division of the Cameron Dragon Tennis Tournament.
In the opening round, Sager got a strong challenge from Groumoutis of Maryville, before emerging with a 7-5 victory. In the quarterfinals, Sager slipped by Rehn of Warrensburg High School by a score of 6-4. In the semifinal round, Sager beat Trantham of Chillicothe 6-2, sending Sager into the championship duel, which he won over McBride of Higginsville 6-4.
Trenton struggled to find the win column with its other entries, with the doubles team of Victor Markell and Isaac Dixon going 1-3, Jacob White and Jacob Horton going 1-3, and Henry Lasley and Ryeland Kirk going 1-3, with all three entries finishing in 7th place (Markell/Dixon #1 doubles, White/Horton #2 doubles, and Lasley/Kirk #3 doubles).
