Trenton wrestlers show improvement in Saturday duals at Lexington

The Trenton High School boys wrestling team had four victories and one loss in a dual style tournament Saturday afternoon at Lexington.

Trenton opened by defeated University Academy 65-9, followed by victories over Lexington 51-30 and over Brookfield 43-33.  Trenton then lost to Sherwood 39-32.  Trenton won its final dual of the tournament over Blue Springs South 60-24.

Trenton’s Jacob White, Mason Rongey, Brayden Hughs, and Logan Wilson all were unbeaten during the event.  White had three pins, a 13-4 major decision, and a forfeit victory.  Rongey had two pins, a 15-0 technical fall, a 9-2 decision, and a forfeit win.  Hughs had a pin, a 17-2 technical fall, a 19-3 technical fall, a 6-4 decision.  Wilson had four pins and also won by forfeit.

Sherwood won the dual style tournament with a record of 5-0.  Trenton was second with four wins and one loss.  Brookfield was third with three victories and two defeats.  Fourth place Lexington was 2-3.  Blue Springs South went 1-4, with University Academy losing all five of its matches at the Tom Hayes Tournament at Lexington.  There was no girls division at Saturday’s event.
