The Trenton wrestling teams traveled to Kirksville High School on Tuesday night for a season-opening duel with the Hickman High School (Columbia) Kewpies and the host Kirksville Tigers. In what boys coach Charlie Bacon called a “tough night”, the Bulldogs lost to Hickman 67-15, with a 53-30 setback to Kirksville.
Against Hickman, Jacob White picked up a forfeit win at 106 pounds, with Brayden Hughs winning by fall, and Gavin Cagle winning by fall. In the battle with Kirksville, White picked up a 106 pound pin, Hughs won by fall at 138, Logan Wilson by fall at 175, and Gavin Cagle won in dramatic fashion at the end of the third period.

In boys JV action, Trenton’s Jaylen Barnes won by 19-9 major decision at 120 pounds, Henry Lasley picked up a pair of pins, with Braydon Holtzclaw and Nathan Johnson both winning by forfeit in the 220 pound weight class.
