The Trenton Lady Bulldog varsity team, both frustrated and encouraged by three-set road losses to Lawson and Plattsburg in recent days, used the momentum of their improved play to blitz the visiting Carrollton Lady Trojans on Thursday night, taking a straight sets 25-6, 25-12 victory at the THS gymnasium.
In improving their record to 2-4 ahead of a Tuesday night visit (on Hot Country Z 101.7) from South Harrison, Shawna Coplen had three aces to lead the offense from the back line, adding three assists and three digs. Melea Farmer had four assists and four digs, with Karli Provorse setting the pace from the net with five kills. The program’s only senior, Cassidy Trump, had a pair of aces, with Saedee Jackson adding two digs.
The Trenton JV also picked up a straight set win over the Trojans, by the score of 25-13, 26-24.
After the South Harrison visit on September 5th, the THS volleyball squads head to Kirksville on Thursday, September 7th, and the Lathrop Tournament on Saturday, September 9th.
In Midland Empire Conference volleyball action on Thursday night, Smithville took a 26-24, 25-22 win at Chillicothe, LeBlond won a three-set heart-stopper over visiting Maryville 25-20, 21-25, 26-24, while Savannah swept Lafayette in the Savages home gym, 25-19, 25-22.
