The Trenton Lady Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the first inning, and 10 more in the third, claiming a 15-0, three inning victory on the softball diamond in Bethany on Thursday night.
With the win, Trenton takes a perfect record (5-0, 4-0 GRC) into Unionville on Saturday, with four games to be played at the Putnam County Tournament.
Taylor Richman had a two run single in the first inning for THS, Mason Hooyman added a sacrifice fly, and Mykah Hurley added an RBI single.
After a quiet second, Trenton exploded on South Harrison in the third, with Tenna Roberts driving in four runs in the frame (two by double and two by single). Whitley Richman had an RBI triple, Taylor Richman an RBI single, and Ainsley Tolson an RBI single.
Trenton Coach John Cowling saved Tolson’s arm for Saturday, throwing freshman McKayla Blackburn. Other than some control difficulties (three walks), Blackburn stifled the South Harrison batters with three no-hit innings for her first varsity win.
Taylor Richman and Tenna Roberts went a combined 6 for 6 for Trenton, with 7 RBI’s and five runs scored. Hurley finished 2 for 3 and Ashten Whitaker 1 for 1 with a run scored.
South Harrison’s next GRC game is a contest at Milan on Tuesday, September 6th. Trenton will host Polo on Tuesday and Milan on Thursday, September 8th, looking to expand its current lead of one game over 2-0 Putnam County in the GRC Eastern Division.
The Trenton JV won a slugfest at South Harrison on Thursday night, 15-8. Sarah Jordan had three hits to pace the THS offense.
The Trenton Middle School teams lost a doubleheader at South Harrison. The TMS “A” team lost 14-2. The TMS “B” team was defeated 6-1.
