The Savannah Lady Savages got the better of Trenton in varsity tennis action on Thursday at Savannah High School, winning eight of nine matches to claim the team win.  The Lady Bulldogs only triumph came from Lexi Gott at #5 singles, in an 8-4 victory.

At #1 singles, Emma Gilham of Trenton fell short in an 8-3.  In 8-4 fashion, #2 Trenton singles entry Elle Neal took a loss.  Kendall Crowley lost her match at #3 singles, 8-5, while Lattorie Johnson, playing at #4, lost 8-1, while Morgan Dolan, at #6 singles, took an 8-2 setback.

In varsity doubles, Gilham and Crowley of Trenton lost a hard-fought battle with Strafford and Bailey of Savannah, by a 9-7 score at the #1 level.  In #2 doubles, Neal and Johnson fell 8-2 to their Savannah opponents, while Gott and Dolan lost in #3 doubles, 8-5.

Trenton took the JV competition with the Savages, 4-2.  Bulldog winners, with all matches played in a doubles format, were Gwyneth Foster and Emilee Lovell, 6-3; Amanda Parrack and Mallory Sole, 6-4; Trinity Gaunt and Baley Catron, 6-3; and Foster teaming with Leslie Cotiangco for a 6-4 victory.

Coach Tammy Ockenfels, despite the varsity loss, found positives from the trip for her team, saying, “I am glad that all 17 girls had the opportunity to play.  Varsity had a couple of tough losses.  We need to work on keeping momentum and pushing through the entire match.  Lexi Gott dominated her singles match and the junior varsity girls all performed well!”
