The Trenton Lady Bulldogs and Maryville Lady Spoofhounds won second-round tennis district matches on Tuesday afternoon, setting up a winner-take-all battle for the district title this (Wednesday) afternoon in Maryville.
The #1 seed Lady ‘Hounds beat Chillicothe 5-0, while the #2 seed Lady Bulldogs took down Savannah, 5-0. For THS, Alainey Fair won her singles match, 6-love, 6-love over Lauren Stafford, while Emma Gilham got a victory for Trenton, 6-love, 6-3 over Delaney Case.
Trenton swept three doubles matches against the Lady Savages, as Utley and Dolan combined for an 8-2 win (over Cornelius and Hazlett), Mihalovich and Searcy defeated Peterson and Kallauner 8-3, while Fair and Gilham took an 8-4 decision over Stafford and Case.
All of the other matches being played at Trenton High School were stopped on Tuesday once Trenton reached the five match win mark to clinch the victory.
The Trenton at Maryville district final begins at 4 o’clock this afternoon.
