The Trenton junior varsity basketball teams picked up a pair of road wins on Monday night, traveling to Unionville and upending Grand River Conference rival Putnam County, 39-16 in the girls contest and 47-41 in a tightly contested boys game.
Trenton’s girls grabbed the lead early, with a dominant 14-2 first quarter performance, in cruising to their third win of the season. Saedee Jackson had nine points, while Haley Kidd and Lexi Whitaker scored eight each for Trenton.
The Trenton boys had an up-and-down night at Unionville, bursting out of the gates to a 16-4 lead at the end of one quarter. However, the Midgets got the better the Bulldogs in the middle quarters, and cut the Trenton lead to 35-33 with three minutes to play. The Bulldogs responded with a 9-0 surge to eek out the win.
Carson Radcliff led the Bulldogs with 22 points while Cole Schilling had 12.
The JV boys face a two-week break in between games, playing the Carrollton Trojans next, on Monday, December 12th.
