The Trenton Lady Bulldogs rode a balanced team effort with individual titles from two relay teams, Kristi Ewing, Lexi Whitaker, Maci Moore, and Salem Croy to a team win in Friday afternoon’s Putnam County “Marcus Honsom” Relays in Unionville, with THS scoring 172 points. Clark County was second with 149 points, followed by Putnam County.
Two of the four Trenton relay teams won first place hardware, with Ewing, Hurley, Whitaker, and Gott taking the by 4 by 200 in 1:52.28, while Ewing, Blackburn, Hurley, and Whitaker, at 4:18, won the 4 by 400. The 4 by 800 team was second, with the by 4 by 100 sprinters taking third.
Kristi Ewing was strong in the individual sprints, winning the 100 meter dash (12.98) and 400 meter dash (1:01.77). Lexi Whitaker won the 200 meter dash (26.22), and finished second in the 400 meters.
In field events, Maci Moore won the shot put at 35’9″, with Salem Croy taking titles in both and discus (103’7″) and javelin (128’8″). Mykah Hurley finished second in the long jump and third in the triple jump, with Kendall Crowley in third place in the discus.
The Trenton boys took the runner-up spot in the Putnam County Relays with 99 points, 50 fewer than the 149 from the champion Clark County Indians. Putnam County was fourth, Brookfield 5th, and Milan 7th.
Trenton’s Brian Ewing had another strong running day for the Bulldogs, winning the 400 meter dash (54.38), and finishing runner-up in the 100 meter dash. Jadan Whitney claimed Trenton’s other individual title, taking first place in the discus (134’1″) while going second in the shot put (Trenton’s Carson Burchett was fourth).
Other Trenton finishes included Matthew Sibbit second in the 300 hurdles, and third in the 110 hurdles, Quentin Hughs fourth in the 1600, and Nick Wattenbarger fourth in the javelin, and Camdyn Leeper was fourth in the 100 hurdles.
Carson Quint of Putnam County won the high jump, with Milan’s Ryan Dabney taking two runner-up finishes (javeline and 800 meter run). Colten Fordyce of Milan claimed the 300 hurdles win.
