The Trenton Bulldogs defeated the Carrollton Trojans in head-to-head boys tennis action on Wednesday afternoon, with a 5-4 victory improving the Bulldogs record to 3-1 while dropping Carrollton to 2-4.
The teams split six singles matches, with Trenton sophomore Isaac Dixon, playing at #3 singles, routing Jacob Lyon 8-love. Bulldog freshman Jacob White, at #4 singles, grabbed an 8-love sweep of Jacob Lyon. The other singles win for THS was in the #1 match, with Braydn Sager downing Corey Terryberry 8-3.
Carrollton’s single victories came in the #2 match, with Carson Fisher downing Victor Markell 8-love, the #6 match, with Caleb Brownley over Henry Lasley 8-love, and the #5 match, with Cohen Hawkins over Jacob Horton 8-4.
Trenton took two of three doubles matches, with Markell and Dixon winning the #1 match 8-6 over Terryberry and Fisher, with Sager and White downing the Lyon brothers 8-3. In the #3 doubles match, the Trojans entry of Brownley and Camden Hilbrenner downing Horton and Lasley 8-1.
In junior varsity competition, Trenton’s Ryeland Kirk split a pair of 6-4 matches, defeating Bryan Cain and falling to Jack Isaacs.
In baseball action from Wednesday, Maysville was doubled up by Putnam County 4-2, with the Wolverines playing at Trenton on Thursday night. Others scores were Albany 9, South Harrison 7; Polo 7, Lathrop 2; Savannah 15, Maryville 5; Lafayette 4, Chillicothe 3; Mid-Buchanan 4, Pembroke Hill 1; Odessa 6, Lawson 3; and North Platte 16, University Academy 7.
In addition to Maysville at Trenton, other baseball battles on Thursday night include Albany at Princeton, North Harrison at King City, South Harrison at Milan, and North Andrew at St. Joseph Christian.
