The Trenton Bulldogs had a team score of 334 on Thursday at the Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe, seven strokes better (341) than runner-up Cameron to win the annual Chillicothe Invitational Tournament.
Trenton put three players in the top six, led by a runner-up finish from junior Lathan Croy, shooting an 18-hole score of 75. That score was one stroke behind the individual champion Hayden Montgomery of Chillicothe High School, who shot a 74. Finishing in third place from Penney High School of Hamilton was Ethan Green with a score of 78. In fourth place at 82 was Trenton senior Nate Swann, with Bulldog senior Corbyn Guile, with a score of 83, finishing 6th. Cameron had two players in the Top 10, with Spencer Teel matching Swann at 82, while Chase Foreman finished 8th with a score of 84.
In the team standings, Macon was third with 343, followed by the Penney Hornets and Savannah Savages (tied at 349). Chillicothe, with the exception of the strong play by Montgomery, struggled, with the Hornets team recording a score of 392, good for 10th place.
Thirteen teams were in the Chillicothe Invitational, including the JV teams from Smithville High School and St. Pius X High School. Others in the field were Lathrop, St. Joseph Benton, Brookfield, East Buchanan, and Orrick.
Individual scores of note, out of the Top 10, included Penney’s Caden Brown (87/15th place), Cameron’s Kyler Hill (87/15th place), Cameron’s Trey Howell (88/19th place), Penney’s LaTroy Harper (89/23rd place), Brookfield’s Andrew Bragg (91/28th place), Cameron’s Sam West (91/28th place), Trenton’s Luke Lewis (94/35th place), Chillicothe’s Peyton Moritz (94/35th place), Penney’s Quinn Brown (95/37th place), Brookfield’s Cooper Cisna (96/39th place), Chillicothe’s Lucas Wine (101/44th place), Putnam County’s Wyatt Robinson (103/47th place), Brookfield’s Dillon Sackrey (107/49th place), Trenton’s Connor Cotton (109/51st place), Chillicothe’s Trevor Bowling (110/52nd place), Chillicothe’s C.J. Williams (114/54th place), Brookfield’s Jarrett Morris (123/60th place), and Chillicothe’s Clayton Walker (131/63rd place).
