The Trenton Bulldog boys won two duals and fell short in three others at Saturday’s Crossroad Dual Tournament at Cameron High School. Head coach Charlie Bacon said his team competed short-handed, with four members of the regular starting lineup staying home due to illness. Bacon said younger guys did well in “filling holes in the lineup”, receiving good experience against much bigger schools.
Trenton beat Park Hill 60-18 and defeated Savannah 39-24. Trenton’s three losses were to Mexico 57-18, Cameron 63-15, and Sullivan 40-30.
Trenton’s Sam Gibson and Caleb Johnson were undefeated on the day. Kaden Owen was 4-1, with Johnson picking up his 100th career victory.
The Trenton girls competed in a tournament at Mid-Buchanan High School in Faucett, Missouri. Top performances came from Avery Clark, with a 2-2 record at 141 pounds; and Jacey Hudson, 2-2 at 235 pounds.
Lexi Kerwin of Stanberry was first in the 130-B weight class, with Malia Bell of Polo first in the 159-B weight class.
Harrisonville won the tournament with 134.5 points. Mid-Buchanan was second with 96.5. Plattsburg and Smithville tied for third with 60 points each.
The Trenton Kids Wrestling Club participated in tournaments in Kirksville and Marceline this weekend. Finishing in first place at Kirksville on Saturday for Trenton were Clayton Glidewell, Wesley Stiles, Marcus White, and Jacob White. Second place finishes came from Wyatt Stiles, Aiden Cosgrove, Toby Lickteig, Lucas Wood, Riley Griffin, Reid Griffin, Owen Lowe, Ayden Ortega, Lane DeVorss, Jackson Miller, Mason Brown, and Jacob Black.
At Sunday’s Marceline Tiger Pride Tournament, Atlee Spicher, Reed Rongey, Brody Trent, and Owen Lowe had first-place finishes for Trenton. Braylee Barron finished in second place.
