The Trenton Boxing Club sent three members to the 5th annual international Pikes Peak Tournament in Colorado Springs over the weekend, with all three headed home with titles.
Trenton’s boxers faced off with competition from Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Arizona, Las Vegas, Wisconsin, and Montana.
Aryn Pajak made his way to the finals where he faced off with a much more experienced fighter, Owen Miranda of Milwaukee,Wisconsin in the 9-10 year old, 70 pound title tilt. Pajak utilized a good jab and used his height and reach to his advantage advantage won a very close split decision.
Faith Baker found herself in the finals against a very tough Victoria McCullough of Colorado Springs. The more physical McCullough appeared to control Baker and won the split decision, however, was later found to be over the weight limit and was disqualified from the tournament leaving Baker as the champion in the 12-13, 138 pound female division.
Last up for Trenton was 14 year old, 138 pound Owen Brown. He found himself in the finals against Daniel Guzman of Garden City, Kansas Brown proved to be the more technical boxer and went on to win a unanimous decision utilizing quick combinations and clean straight shots leaving Guzman unable to counter.
The Trenton fighters will next be in action in Hot Springs, Arkansas this Wednesday (June 7th) through Saturday, June 10th in the National Championship Tournament.
