In the Class 3 state track and field meet that ended Saturday in Jefferson City, Trenton’s Kristi Ewing was third and Lexi Whitaker fifth, both in the girls 400 meter dash. Salem Croy of Trenton was sixth in the girls javelin. Those three girls earned team points for Trenton, which finished in a three-way tie for 17th place with 13 points. John Burroughs won the Class 3 girls meet with 62 points. Cardinal Ritter was a close second with 59 points.
Chillicothe finished in a two-way tie for fifth place in the boys Class 3 team standings with 35 points. Cameron was in a two-way tie for 33rd place with six points, and the Trenton boys were in a seven-way tie for 48th place with two points. Cardinal Ritter won the boys Class 3 meet with 72 points. Trinity Catholic was second with 57. Trenton’s two points were earned by Jadan Whitney who finished seventh in the boys shotput. That same boys shotput event was won by Walker Graves of Chillicothe. Graves was second in the discus. His combined team points in those two events totaled 18.
Brett Shaffer both 17 team points for the Chillicothe boys by winning the 110 meter hurdles, finishing third in the 300 meter hurdles, and coming in eighth in the 200 meters.
Tristan Michaelis had all six team points for the Cameron boys by placing third in the javelin.
